PICKLEBALL LEVEL GUIDE

How to self-rate in pickleball.

A self-rating can help you choose compatible games and identify what to work on. It is an estimate—not a substitute for a match-based competitive rating.

Look for patterns, not highlights

Rate the shots you can make regularly in normal play, not the best ball you have ever hit. Consider serving, returning, dinking, transitions, volleys, positioning, shot selection, and how your game responds to pace.

Know the limitation

Online assessments and self-ratings are useful starting points. They are different from competitive systems based on actual match results, and they should not be described as official DUPR or USA Pickleball ratings.

Use the result well

Start with a level range, find suitable recreational games, and choose one or two skills to practice next. Retake the assessment after meaningful court time.
