BUILD YOUR VOLLEYS
Block, reset, repeat.
A reset turns an uncomfortable ball into a neutral one. This drill teaches compact hands and calm decisions against pace.
10 minutes · 2 players · Kitchen line
What this drill builds
Block a firm volley into the kitchen, then recover your ready position before the next ball.
Set up
Both players begin at opposite kitchen lines. One player feeds controlled volleys; the other practices soft blocks and resets.
Make the rep useful
Common miss: Swinging at a hard ball instead of presenting a quiet paddle face.
A good rep: Five soft resets in a row that land below your partner’s attack zone.
The takeaway
A calm reset neutralizes an opponent’s pace, giving you time to recover instead of escalating a ball you cannot control.
